Eva Cassidy Mural Project
June 5-10, 2022
37 West Street, Annapolis, MD
Eva Cassidy was a Maryland songbird who sang a little while and then flew on. Born in DC and raised in Bowie, Maryland, Eva was known and loved by many in Annapolis, her one-time stomping ground. Local musicians who knew her express a deep fondness and appreciation for her and her music. This project has given us the opportunity to learn about this incredible visual artist and musician through a creative process that we share with a younger generation of student artists. We hope this tribute mural will spread the love and awareness of this Maryland treasure.
[excerpt from evacassidy.org] “Eva died in 1996 from melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer. Her music was little-known during her 33 years of life, but today her soul-stirring voice is reaching people all over the world.”
This project was a collaboration between FHN: Stephanie Baker, Julia Gibb, Marion Macdonald, Danah Koch, and Jeff Huntington; FHN young artists: Jabriel Simms, Shamierah Chase, Athan Huntington, and Angeles Huntington.
Funding for this project came from Pepsi Beverages Company, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, and a private donation.
