MLK Mural Project – Future History Now

MLK Mural Project
FHN + Black Wall Street Annapolis + Newtowne 20 and Woodside Gardens Kids
April 28, 2018
Elizamae Robinson Community Center at Newtowne 20, Annapolis, MD

The MLK mural kicked off a series of collaborative art projects created throughout underserved communities in Annapolis. This particular project, located inside the Elizamae Robinson Community Center in Newtowne 20, was in collaboration with kids from the Black Wall Street Annapolis program, Newtowne 20 and Woodside Gardens. In this project, kids were encouraged to incorporate text into the mural. Some of the text represents shout-outs, or “call and response,” recognizing neighborhoods and programs involved, while other text are quotes from Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
